Could not load file or assembly ... Access is denied

Problem

When trying to do a merge etc the following error or similar occurs:

Could not load file or assembly 'office, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

Solution

This usually occurs because:

  1. There is the installation of 2 versions of Office where an older version is installed after a newer version
  2. There is a corrupted .Net, Office and/or Windows file.
  3. There is a corrupted LawMaster file

We recommend:

  1. Reinstall LawMaster:
    1. Restart the PC
    2. Uninstall the 3 LawMaster files (StartUp, Client and Outlook Addin)
    3. Restart the PC
    4. Reinstall the 3 LawMaster files
  2. Repair Office
  3. Uninstall the older version of Office
    1. Restart the PC
    2. Uninstall the older version of Office
    3. Restart the PC
  4. Make sure the minimum requirements for LawMaster are met
  5. Make sure as per the release notes the correct .Net runtime version is installed
