Document Properties – Folio ID and Version Details in Word Folios

Pre-Requisites 


Ensure that the LawMaster parameter is enabled. 

Set Parameters > WP, Mail, Help & Printing > Custom Document Properties 


Viewing Document Properties 



The LawMaster Folio ID and Version detail (and other) document properties can be viewed in each Word document. 


Fields available and examples are:

Custom Properties are viewed in - File > Properties > Advanced Properties > Custom Tab. 



Adding the LawMaster Document Property fields into your document 


From LawMaster Folios, “Edit” the Word document you wish to include the document property. 


Place your cursor in the document where you wish to place the document property field. 


In the Word Ribbon, click on Insert > Quick Parts > Field > DocProperty > Select the LM field you wish and click OK. The field will then be inserted into the document. 



Updating Document Property - New Version of a Folio 


When creating an “Original” New Version of a Folio which contains LawMaster document property fields, the user will be prompted as to whether they wish to update the Folio Properties in Word. 


The matrix below outlines the behaviour of LawMaster Custom Word Properties based on whether properties already exist in the document and the user is: 

  1. Creating Folio Record and Folio Attachment 
  2. Editing Folio Attachment 
  3. Modification of Folio Record 


This depends on whether properties already exist in document. 



On Creation of Folio record AND Folio Attachment
On Edit of Folio Attachment
On Modification of Folio Record

5. Check LM Properties = Word Properties If Different, Prompt User to Update Properties? If Yes, Update Properties AND Refresh Values in Document e.g. Folio Enquiry > Edit
6.1. New Version OR 6.2 Modify: 6.2.a."Original Folio" ticked/unticked, AND /OR 6.2.b"Folio Based on" field updated, Auto Update Update Properties in Word AND Refresh Values in Document e.g. Folio Enquiry > New Version
