Unable to check-in emails back into LawMaster

Problem 


Emails checked out for editing fail to check back into LawMaster. The system displays a warning "You have (no.) documents checked out. Check in now?" when the user tries to log-off LawMaster. 


Solution 


This usually happens when the user has selected the "Edit Attachment" option from the folio context menu while opening the Email. The existing Emails, saved as folio in a matter cannot be edited by using the "Edit Attachment" option. It is a better option to open the Emails in a read-only mode so as to avoid having it flagged as checked out. 


The user can open the Emails in read-only mode by double-clicking on the folio record, which will display the Email in the Folio Viewer. Alternatively, select the "Open Attachment (Read-Only)" via the Folio context menu to display the Email outside of the LawMaster Folio Viewer. 


You can ‘undo’ the checked out status by selecting ‘My Documents’ in the Lawyer’s Toolbar where you can multi-select the Checked Out emails and select ‘Undo Checkout’ via the context menu.


NOTE: Trying to check in the Emails back into LawMaster may or may not work so it is best to avoid checking them out unnecessarily to start with.
