Email Management from Outlook

When dragging in an email or using the floating file note to import an email LawMaster will allow you to: 

  • Amend the Folio meta data (e.g. Folio Precis, Info Type, Override File Name etc.)
  • Opt for email Attachments to be saved as separate Folios 
  • Amend the email Attachment Folio meta data eg) Folio Precis, Info Type, Override File Name etc 
  • Create and Assign a Bring-up 
  • Record Time


Step-by-step guide 


NOTE: The relevant parameters need to be set for this functionality to work (Parameters > Set Parameters > Miscellaneous > Outlook Integration > Import Email Attachments as separate Folios



  1. Drag an email from outlook or using the floating file note to float an email in from Outlook
  2. If the Email Drag/Drop parameter is set to Precis Override then when dragging in or floating in an email from Outlook you will be greeted with a screen similar to this:

    1. The Blue area is where you can update the folio meta data for the email you are importing into LawMaster 
    2. The Green area lists all the main email attachments and their folio meta data. Here you can tick to include the attachments you want to save as separate folios 
    3. The Yellow area is where you can enter the time it has taken to complete the task of reading and importing the email and it's attachments
      NOTE: This time entered is separate to whatever time is recorded via the Workbench on the matter

    4. The Red area indicates where you can tick the Bring up box to have an Add Bring-up window appear so you can create a bring up for the email folio 
  3. If the Email Drag/Drop parameter is set to Floating File Note then when dragging in or floating in an email from Outlook you will be greeted with a screen similar to this:

NOTE: This functionality will also appear when replying to an un-linked email from Outlook that has the Matter number syntax in the subject line.


This functionality is available since the Sweden Release
