Document Merging - LawMaster stops responding when trying to merge a document

Modified on Tue, 20 Feb at 8:50 PM

Problem

When trying to merge a document template, LawMaster stops responding after completion of any pre-merge questions. Often users report that they must force close LawMaster to be able to continue working.

Solution

This may occur when Word is waiting for user input on a dialog box that may have been drawn behind the LawMaster window, and not have a taskbar icon to reveal it. A common cause is a security prompt such as that described in: Microsoft Word Security Notice - Microsoft Office has identified a potential Security Concern

You can check for the existence of Windows which may be hidden behind LawMaster using one of the following methods:

  • Right click on the Windows Task bar and choose "Cascade Windows". This may reveal part of the dialog which you can then click on. (Not available in the Windows 11 taskbar); or
  • Use the task switcher in Windows via Alt+Tab; or
  • Use task view in Windows via Windows Key +Tab.

You may then be able to identify the hidden dialog and complete the required interaction with it.

Check for other troubleshooting articles related to any specific dialogs you encounter to determine why you might experiencing the error.
